In the '60s and '70s (whoa…long time ago!), Randy Wills played in two different bands with Bil Curry. Who is Bil Curry, you ask? Bil's been our Director of Digital Music Program Design at Lowrey for 18 years. During his early years at Lowrey, Bil hired Randy to design and program several of the organ style pre-sets for Lowrey instruments.
When Julie Romeo decided to organize the Stayin' Alive show choir, Bil recommended that Randy fill the role of director/music arranger. In August 2010, auditions were held and rehearsals began. Since then, this group of 12-15 fun-loving folks has had a blast performing for senior centers and civic groups all across the D/FW Metro area.
Randy is also the piano player/ musical director for the Classic Swing Band of Dallas – a popular local group that's been grooving together for eight years. And before you ask…Yes! Randy is kin to Bob Wills, the famous fiddler and King of Western Swing. His grandfather (Aaron Burr Wills) was Bob's first cousin.
In January 2012, Randy started working with Shery Buentipo and Dwight Sherwood – as part of the motivated team teaching 80+ Lowrey students the fun (and rewarding) hobby of recreational music making. You should join 'em!
